Zafaf Maghreb — Moroccan Haute Couture House
Saffron Portrait
A Moroccan caftan gown in golden saffron silk crêpe, cut, embroidered and finished entirely by hand in Morocco.
Saffron Portrait is built around a gown with a portrait neckline. The silk crêpe is cut on the straight grain so it keeps its weight as it moves, falling clean from the shoulder and settling at the floor without breaking. Hand-guided rbati embroidery runs along the shoulders and the waist, worked thread by thread and set with Swarovski crystals that read only when the light shifts. The sfifa — the fine braided trim that defines Moroccan couture — is sewn by hand along every seam and closure. Conceived for an evening ceremony, this Moroccan caftan gown is made to your measurements alone.
Designer's Note
We start from the body, not the sketch. The golden saffron was chosen for how it behaves under light rather than for effect — deep at rest, alive in movement. Everything else follows the proportion of the woman who will wear it.
The Couture Journey
After your order, we guide you privately through your measurements. One of our master modélistes — trained in the leading couture houses of Morocco — develops the pattern, and a fitting toile is made and shipped to you anywhere in the world. You confirm length, sleeves, waist, neckline and silhouette on your own body. Only once the toile is approved does the final Moroccan caftan gown go into production.
Savoir-Faire
Each piece moves between cities for the work it requires: rbati embroidery in Fès, couture assembly in Casablanca, hand-finishing in Marrakech and Tétouan. Couture cutting, hand embroidery, hand-sewn sfifa, Swarovski crystal setting and hand finishing can take more than 220 hours and up to fourteen artisans.
Private Atelier
Nothing is produced in series. Each Moroccan caftan gown is signed, numbered and made for one woman, to one set of measurements.
Made-to-Measure Experience
You stay at the centre of the process from the first measurement to the final stitch. The fitting toile lets you adjust the cut before any final fabric is touched, so the finished piece answers to your body and no one else's.

Heritage
The Moroccan caftan and takchita have been worked by hand for generations. Saffron Portrait keeps that craft exact rather than nostalgic: traditional rbati embroidery and sfifa, cut to a contemporary line.
